TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW, AND TOMORROW
Sam and Sadie’s conflicts made me think about how people can care for one another and still cause hurt. Marx’s quiet work as a mediator stayed with me. Creating something together takes more than talent; it also takes care for the relationships that sustain the work.

Care and equality
I was not convinced by the novel’s portrayal of friendship and equality. I kept returning to the unequal positions of its characters, and to whether their kindness came from care for others or a need to make up for past wrongs.

Whose stories get heard?
Yellowface made me question how publishing shapes which stories get heard. I was struck by the tension between telling a story and making it sell. The novel also left me asking when drawing on another person’s experiences becomes exploitation.
I want to understand where economic models fall short, and how policy might respond. How can these ideas widen access to learning?
